I don't often write book reviews, although I frequently compose them in my head, then never get around to actually following through on writing them. However, I absolutely loved this book and felt I had to take the time to make my appreciation known. The characters are very well drawn, and you get a real feel for the beautiful location. Someone else commented that reading about places you've never been isn't worth your time, but I found these descriptions so clear and lovely, I felt like I had been there. This made me want to make this journey. and I think that's what good writing does for the reader, so I have to disagree with that sentiment. The story was beautiful, and for me, hard to put down. The writing was far above what I typically expect in this genre. I felt like I really understood each character, and the character of the landscape and the setting. The relationships between the primary characters, and even the smaller parts played by the townsfolk were all so well written that I felt I knew them, and I wanted to know more. I even learned something about sheep!I'm a very cheap person and rarely pay anything for my Kindle books, but I will actually fork over the money to read another on of Mr. North's books.
