First of all, as many of you might know, John Mitchell is an incredible guitarist/songwriter/vocalist that has played many years with the band Arena. He has also played with John Wetton, The Urbane, Kino, Frost and It Bites. I have been a big fan of his work since the mid nineties and have followed him through most of his projects. The work he did on the album "Milliontown" by Frost was mindblowing. Kino's first and only album (at this point) "Picture" was also an awesome work. And I didn't think it was going to be possible to top the It Bites album "The Tall Ships", but with his new project, Lonely Robot, he has topped everything that he has done in the past. And that is saying ALOT! Especially since nearly all of his work is top-notch stuff. All I can say is that this album is a MUST for anyone's collection of great progressive music. This is a more personal view and display of his talents as a songwriter and his guitar work is stellar. The lyrics and the theme of the album touch on subjects where few have gone before. In this sense it is truly progressive in it's thinking. But it is also very beautiful and emotional. An exceptionally amazing piece of work. I purchased this album at the same time I also purchased the new Steven Wilson album "Hand Cannot Erase" and I played them back to back (beginning with Lonely Robot) and they really just seemed to work excellent together! I can't recommend this album enough! This is rare, high-quality musical art at it's best!
