this is an absolutely wonderful blues harmonica compilation! most songs recorded in timeframe 1962-66. most in Chicago, and a few other cities. in addition to a few more well known musicians, there are some lesser known but tremendous musicians such as "Bat" Robinson, Coot Venson, Andrew Cauthen, Elmon Mickle and Harmonica Slim Willis. Little Walter appears on two songs, one with Robt Nighthawk & one with Johnny Young. Otis Spann is on //Canadian Sunset// with Slim Willis. There are three songs by Billy Boy Arnold, including two written by Sonny Boy Williamson #1 from whom Arnold learned harmonica as a pre teen before Williamson was killed in a 1948 stick up. Arnold's vocals sound so similar to Williamson it is somewhat haunting on the two songs written by Williamson. Two songs by Big Walter Horton and one by Dr Ross round out the more well known harp players. This is a great cd!! Two others by Testament Records to seek out are MODERN CHICAGO BLUES and...DOWN HOME SLIDE (guitar) both also recorded during the mid to late 60s by a variety of great artists, many of whom are now sadly passed.....
