I heard Laura Boosinger live on KDHX in St. Louis some months ago. I was entranced by the pure quality of her voice and the tasteful banjo backing. On hearing this album (the only one I could find, since Borders claimed it was out of stock), I was a little disappointed it was not more 'upbeat'. The first song 'When the roses bloom in Dixieland' is lively and just what I remember from the radio; it's also one of the best tunes on the CD. After a few more listenings I now like the other tracks more and more - very gentle and unpretentious with beautiful singing. She deserves to be heard! More albums please!
